Proposed Youth Sports Association Feedback
Proposed Youth Sports Association Feedback
The City of Frankfort Parks and Recreation Department is currently researching and requesting public input on possibly changing the model of operations for youth recreational, ages 4-13, baseball and softball in the community. For many years youth baseball and softball has been operated by the parks department as a service to the community. In late 2023, it was discussed and approved by the Parks Advisory Board to research and look at the possibility of changing to the Association model of operating youth baseball and softball in Frankfort in an effort to take it to another level and offer the best service possible to the community. In brief, a youth sports association is an independent from the city organization, typically a 501(c)3 non-profit, that either currently exists or is formed to operate youth sports. The association works with the city to use facilities to host practices, games, etc. The association has their own board of directors, bylaws, rules, regulations, financial institution, etc. Please see below links to documents for additional information on youth sports associations. And we also encourage you to do your own research beyond the information we provide you so you can form an educated opinion.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please keep in mind this is only being researched and considered, and no final decision has been made. All information, including public comments, will be taken into consideration and discussed with city officials, the parks advisory board and the board of commissioners before any final decision is made. In addition to this survey, in-person public meetings will be scheduled. Those dates will be published on the parks website and on our Facebook page.
